This section describes UEFI implementation requirements for running Windows on SoC platforms. Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) is the required boot firmware for SoC platforms running Windows. In addition to the implementation details outlined in the UEFI specification, there are an additional set of UEFI requirements for running Windows on SoC platforms. Additional UEFI drivers and UEFI applications (such as a flashing application) are provided by Microsoft. For Windows devices, the core UEFI environment and some UEFI drivers are provided by the SoC vendor. Because of the extremely low-level nature of UEFI, each of its implementations is specific to a particular SoC. UEFI is a general framework for boot loaders based on a standard UEFI specification, which describes a standard environment and set of interfaces for platform firmware that allows operating systems to boot. The UEFI environment is a minimal boot OS upon which Windows devices are booted and the OS runs. Windows utilizes the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) to support the handoff of system control from the SoC firmware boot loader to the OS. No USB 2.0 keyboard or mouse function unless you have PS2 ports and peripherals or W7 installation media having USB 3.0 drivers. Installing W7 on Intel ,100, 200, or 300 series chipsets (socket 1151) using UEFI/GPT (which was possible) may now be a moot point. Microsoft is not going to give you anyW7 updates for your PC's chipset without installing a hack (not recommended) designed to defeat Microsoft's Windows Update modifications to prevent W7 security updates on your PC's chipset. Poke around the Intel site to see if you can find this software. Without this Intel utility this task may not be possible. But there is no guarantee other MB manufacturer's USB 3.0 W7 media creation utilities will work on an HP MB. Motherboard manufacturers provide a similar utilty. This linkused to provide an Intel Utility required to inject USB 3.0 drivers into W7 USB media. You need to create W7 USB installation media having USB 3.0 drivers.
